Both Jungle Scout and the Extension are part of Jungle Scout! They each work in their own ways to get you to the end goal of finding profitable products to sell and then managing your business.
Each tool can be purchased and/or used on their own, but they work best when used together.
The main differences between the two is where you use them, how you search and what data you receive from that search.
Jungle Scout is accessed from your internet browser like you would any other website.
Jungle Scout is where you can start your product research and narrow down what you will sell. In Jungle Scout you can use filters to pinpoint products in Amazon's catalog that meet your criteria. You tell it what you want to see by inputting the data and products listings are returned.
Jungle Scout = Enter data in filters> Receive Amazon products listings that match criteria.
Jungle Scout is also your main hub as it has many more uses and features other than product research including supplier and keyword research, building listings, running promotions, automatic email campaigns and Jungle Scout’s training Academy. Its quickly growing into an all in one tool for those starting out as well as existing sellers to manage their businesses.
The Extension and Extension Lite are accessed from an Amazon search results page. You search a product or keyword on Amazon, run the Extension and then are given the data about each product. Its a super fast and easy way to get data for a lot of products at once.
The Extension = Search a product on Amazon using keywords> Receive data about those products.
Use them together to get the maximum benefit!
The Extension and Jungle Scout work very well together as they allow you to access information in different ways. Both are useful in finding and then validating a product opportunity.
First, you find a product idea with Jungle Scout based on your criteria. Then you validate the entire market for that type of product with the Extension by gathering all data for all similar product listings. Then you use Jungle Scout's additional features to find a supplier, set up and optimize your listing, launch your product and manage your business.
The Extension helps you gather data from a specific page on Amazon, is installed into your Google Chrome browser and operate inside of the Amazon.com website.
When you use the Extension, you will see a pop-up window similar to the below:
Or, if you are opening the Extension Lite, you should see something like this:
Jungle Scout runs in the cloud on Jungle Scout's website (not Amazon.com) and looks like this:
Both products work fabulously in unison! You can use the Product Database or Niche Hunter to find new ideas that fit your specific criteria being a category, price, estimated sales, demand, competition, etc.
Now you have some ideas and go to amazon.com run the Extension on the keywords you have chosen to identify specific products you are interested in. Then add those ASINs into the Product Tracker in Jungle Scout to be able to watch those products over a period of time.
Being able to track and watch those products will show you if the data is consistent or if it had a spike in best seller rank which would have altered the estimated sales/revenue. Consistency in the product means you can feel confident about your choice!
